Thanks to Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli for ending this year with a bang. The couple who dated for four long years finally took the holy vows in Tuscany, Italy and reinstated our faith in the word ‘love’. One of the most loved and adored celebrity couples, Virushka, as they are fondly called had a dream wedding and every picture from their three day long event deserves to be framed. It won’t be wrong to say that Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli looked stunning and a match made in heaven on their D-day. Calling them stunning would be an understatement. It was Anushka’s idea to get married in a vineyard and keep the ceremonies as intimate as possible. We bet many designers wanted to design for this IT couple on their special day but Anushka and Virat opted for Sabyasachi. And trust us when we say, no one but Sabyasachi can make a bride groom look so beautiful through his designs. The attires designed by the designer for this power couple were simple with heavy embroideries, rich colour palette and traditional silhouettes. The ensembles weren’t fussy and that’s the beauty of it. They were light and soothing for your eyes. Having a penchant for perfection, it was obvious that Anushka would pick everything best on her special day and she proved it. Opting for three different looks for mehendi, engagement and wedding ceremony, Anushka and Virat dabbled into a melange of looks that were ethereal ethnics with a dash of vintage and  boho chic. Without elaborating further and making it sound like a gush piece, we reveal you the exact details behind Virushka’s wedding ensemble that are currently on every bride and groom’s wishlist. Engagement ceremony

For her engagement ceremony, Anushka  wanted to wear a Sabyasachi velvet saree. And her dream came true when the designer made it in his signature Gulkand Burgundy. It was hand-embroidered using miniature pearls and the finest quality zardosi and marori. She wore a stunning uncut diamond and pearl choker with matching studs. The entire look was complemented with kohl-rimmed eyes, red roses and our now iconic micro dot bindi. Fortuantely, the couple didn’t opt for twinning as many others. While she stuck to burgundy, Virat opted for royal blue and black three piece suit instead.

Mehendi ceremony

The first thing that came to our mind after seeing Anushka and Virat’s picture from their mehendi ceremony was ‘Cutie pie’ from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. The look of Anushka was very similar to hers from the song and the only difference was the colour palette. For her mehendi, Anushka wanted a boho look full of bright colours. Hot pink was her favourite. Sabyasachi created a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange. It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. She accessorised the look with earrings from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection, a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls. Custom juttis in hand woven brocade and zardosi completed the look.

The Wedding ceremony

Our personal favourite and something that’s bookmarked by every girl for her special day. Anushka’s pale pink lehenga with Renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads made her look like a million bucks. She paired it with bridal jewellery handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls by the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection.

Coming to Virat, he opted for an ivory raw silk sherwani  hand-embroidered in a vintage Benarasi pattern and signature House buttons with an old Rose silk Kota safa.

Do we need to say anything more? The couple is one of those rare examples of how to plan a grand wedding and keep it intimate at the same time. With great locale, elegant costumes and everything perfect, Anushka and Virat’s wedding ceremony will be remembered and cherished forever.
